Yes, it's been a long time, yes yes, I know, I haven't written in a while, yes yes YES YES YES, MOTHER, I KNOW! *Norman Bates voice*

Aaaaaaaaanyway ... *thwaps at the voices in her head*

Well, dad and mom are back from their globetrotting, and now we're all off to Nashville till Sunday. I don't really have time to update now, but I'll leave you with a song from Weird Al's new CD (which I don't have ... yet). It's strange, I must have a psychic connection with Weird Al. Right around the time I became obsessed with Don McClean and his "American Pie", Al comes out with the American Pie parody "The Saga Begins". Well, for the past month or so, or more, I forget, I've been obsessed with Billy Joel's "Piano Man". I've GOT to hear that (and the Eagle's "Desperado") at least three times a day, and I go nuts if I can't hear it. Like , really nuts. NUTS. Anyway. So. I've been trying to teach "Piano Man" to myself (it's not really working). BUt, then Weird Al now has "Ode To A Superhero" to the tune of "Piano Man", the lyrics are as follows:

Oh Peter Parker was pitiful
Couldn't a been any shyer
Mary Jane wouldn't notice him
Even if his hair was on fire.

But then one day he went to that science lab
That mutated spider came down
And now Peter crawls over everyone's walls
And he's swinging all over town.

La da da da de da
La da da de da da dum

Sling us a web you're the Spider-man
Sling us a web tonight
Cos we're in the mood for a hero now
And there's evildoers to fight

Now Harry the rich kid's a friend of his
Who horns in on Mary Jane
But to his great surprise
It seems she prefers guys
Who can kiss upsidown in the rain

"With great power comes great responsibility"
That's the catch phrase of old Uncle Ben
If you missed it don't worry, they'll say the line
Again and again and again

Oh la da da de da
La la da de da da dum

Now Norman's a billionaire scientist
Who never had time for his son
But then something went screwy
And before you knew he
Was trying to kill everyone

And he's riding around on that flyer thing
And he's throwing that weird pumpkin-bomb
Yes, he's wearing that dumb Power Rangers mask
But he's scarier without it on

Sling us a web, you're the Spiderman
Sling us a web tonight
Cos you're brave and you're strong and so limber now
But where'd you come up with those tights?

It's a pretty sad day at the funeral
Norman Osborne has bitten the dust
And I heard Harry said he wants Spiderman dead
Ah, but his buddy Pete he can trust

And MJ is all hot for Peter now
Ah but Peter, he just shuts her down
Mary Jane, don't you cry
You can give it a try
Again when the sequel comes round

Oh La la la da de dada
La da da de da da dum

Sling us a web, you're the Spiderman
Sling us a web tonight
Cos we all sure could use us a hero now
And we think that you'll do alright.

Woot! Favorite line: "But to his great surprise it seems she prefers guys who can kiss upsidown in the rain."

I met a Marine mom at work today, she had a lanyard with her keys that said "MARINE CORPS". Abe gave me one similar to it, except it has "Go Army" and "GoArmy.com" and "1-800-USA-ARMY" on it. She was extremely proud of her son, that mom, and tickled that I noticed and commented. Ah, for our boys (and ladies) in the armed forces! God save them all.

Whew. I'm tired. Maybe I'll update about the past month later. Then again, maybe not.

O beautiful for pilgrim's feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control
Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heros proved
In liberating strife
Who more than self, their contry loved
And mercy more than life --
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!

Happy 4th of July!
