Aside from the Pope being elected, this has got to be the best news story of the entire year.

Python Explodes After Eating Alligator



MIAMI (AP) - Alligators have clashed with nonnative pythons before in Everglades National Park. But when a 6-foot gator tangled with a 13-foot python recently, the result wasn't pretty.

The snake apparently tried to swallow the gator whole - and then exploded. Scientists stumbled upon the gory remains last week.

The species have battled with increasing frequency - scientists have documented four encounters in the last three years.

Ewwww. This is so cool.

One would expect this sort of thing to happen in a clash over Tokyo with it getting destroyed in the process.

AWWWWWE-some!

I'm definitely showing this to my ten year old son.

His class today set up a battle to the death between a praying mantis and an assassin bug. The assassin bug won.

Yes, the teachers knew about it--they were the ones to arrange it! Only at a Catholic boys' school, hmm?

Hmmm... Am I the only one around who found this photo really quite disturbing?! We had a good look around the breakfast table in our Priory (it was in the newspaper) and were amazed...
